it might be the saddle. if you are on the heavy side you might be using a comfort saddle. and if you're riding a road bike with drop bars the wide area may be hitting your thighs. I switched to a road saddle and my chaffing went away. I also wear proper (expensive) bike shorts against my skin. I can ride with creams but do occasionally use a product I got from CVS. she butter mixed with petroleum gelly. I don't use it to fight shaffing though I use is just at the crease of my legs.
