"new pump bracket"
Well that is the most bizzare thing I've ever heard - just about a month ago I searched and searched and searched for the under-the-water-bottle-cage mount for the Topeak Road Morph. I finally emailed them directly - they said I had to call them. I called the number they gave me, they knew actually what I was talking about, and they shipped it to me.
Now I would agree that that's poor customer service, but if I were you I would bring back the pump and the bracket to the bike shop and exchange or return it. My LBS has been pretty good about taking back things that were obviously defective, like it sounds like yours was.
