I stand by my statement of a mile is a mile, and that you can't make a simple conversion of hours to miles just because the terrain isn't paved. If your aim is to do 500 miles in 1 month, nothing says they have to be the 500 most difficult miles you can find.
Its a DEAL, and yeah, what you say is true. But sometimes its fun to fall down a volcanic strewn hillside and get cut to pieces. It beats catching a tire in a storm drain and road rashing.
