Are you talking about the weekend of the 23rd? If so, you should do something that coincides with the Tour of Georgia out near Brasstown and check out some racing on your journey! It's about 2 1/2 hour drive to Brasstown from Waynesville, I'm assuming you're near there. So surely there's a ride within the distance your talking about.
