As far as chain guards go I have gone to just turing all my pants into knickers... I used to use a bash guard and really liked it but they dont make them for my current crankset (omniums) though I would love one...
That was an old dirt jumper I had, an Identiti Dr. Jekyll.

Keep in mind that the setup on that bike was a race face triple DH crank; I used a 130BCD SS Blackspire chainring with the original Race face bash, and the inner guard is designed to bolt up to the granny ring mounts, the 104bcd ones on the inside of the spider.

I too considered BBG for a few of my MTBs, but I honestly think they'll be more appropriate for keeping your pants out the ring since they're much lighter duty and cost effective.
