What is the standard practice about what to do with the existing grips? As I see it, there are two options:

1) Trim 1/2" off the outer end of the grip to make room for the clamp, thus losing 1/2" of grip area.

2) Slide the controls & grips inward 1/2" to make room for the clamp without trimming the grip.

Which way do you guys do it? Also, what do you usually use to get the grips to slide on the bars? Thanks.

Do you have a real issue with 1/2" less?
