Attitudes have changed for the better!
This morning I brought my Breezer into the LBS for a tune-up (or, as I like to think of it, a full seaweed wrap, facial and botox treatment.) The mechanic wrote up my order, then she helped me ascertain if the saddle was indeed the correct height for me. (We determined that the stem needed to be raised a tiny bit.) Walking back home, I thought about the changes in the bike world in the past 10 or so years. During this visit:
* a woman mechanic dealt with me (at last! What's taken so long?)
* another mechanic poked his head out of the backroom when he heard the word "Breezer" and complimented my (3-speed!) bike. That never would have happened back in the old days.
* And get this....as I was wheeling it in, nobody snorted "jesus, how much does that thing weigh!"
These are refreshing changes indeed.
