It is a very sharp bend to the right. Most riders go to the left (outside of the curve) at the hairpin to make the turn less sharp.
Anyone who passes there is a scumbag of the first water & a complete imbecile; their twin brothers are the ones who try to pass you on the left as you're making the left of the Queens side to loop back towards Brookyn.
I always assume people passing on the downhill on the bridges are doing so to salve their fragile egos from the fact that they couldn't manage to do so on the climb or the flat.
