Never count yourself out! We're no spring chickens ourselves. There was a team of 70+ year olds who did it a few years back. All it takes is a decision to say "I'm going to do it!" Healthier comes from making the right decisions, which it sounds like your doing with your cycling as well as your "cross training" hikes in the mountains. Along with the Team Type1 racer boys there is also a Team Type 2 entered. They are a bunch of guys like you and me who all happen to have Type 2 diabetes. There was one guy on the team last year who was easily 300+lbs. They weren't the fastest team out there by far but they finished. You just have to believe!
