I live south of Bragg so I ride the same trails that you do. If you're going to shuttle, hike a bike, and ride the resorts, then get a DH bike. If you actually want to race XC, do not get a DH bike.
I ride most of the trails around here on my slack geo 4.5" trail bike but some of them are a lot more fun on my DH bike.
A Specialized Pitch would be a good choice for a lot of the trails around here. They should be around that price range (around $2000). Go talk to Franzky at Bow and he'll show you some options.
