polarized vs. polycarbonate

Not sure if this is the right place to put this. Mods, if this is the wrong place, plz move.

Okay. So I saw the ad for Redstar World Wear's free sunglasses trial. I'm very tempted to get a pair since all I need to pay is just shipping. But i'm indecisive about the lens type. There's an option for Polarized or Polycarbonate.

I did some googling. From what I get of it, polarized is better for canceling out glares but polycarbonate is good against impact, thus safer if u were to be in an accident. Is that correct? What are others pros/cons of both lens types?

edit: and i misspelled polarized in the title. Can't change it. Hmm..
