As far as $5 glasses go, you're absolutely correct.

If you're a fisherman, you kayak, anything on the water, polarized lenses are worth their weight in gold. Good ones, that is.

I don't think polarized lenses are something you really need for cycling though. Heard somebody say that polarized lenses also "smooth out" the appearance of road surfaces too, which if you're on dicey pavement you might miss shards of glass or the like. Not good.
