This Sunday, Fathers Day, June 20, downtown Lafayette is the place to be.
Why? Because there will be some very cool bicycles to ogle. Okay, there will will be even more cool cars (about 50) than bikes (12 or so) and it is primarily a car show, but if you are in the area between 10 and 4, stop by the Postino restaurant parking lot on Mt. Diablo Blvd (right in the heart of downtown - you can't miss it).
No charge for admission, but this is a fund raiser for muy Rotary Club, so any donations are gratefully accepted. (100 cents on the dollar goes to our charitable and good-works projects. Really)
A few of the bikes that will be there are:
An early 1970's Milan-built Masi, all Campy NR, all original;
An award-winning fire-engine red and white 1958 Columbia paper boy special;
A late 70's Merckz Professional with pantographed NR/SR kit
A 1950's Ohrt with a four-speed (yes, you read right) Cyclo RD, a design that dates to the 1930's (confirmed by referring to Frank Berto's "The Dancing Chain")
That ain't all, so come on out. I'll be there all day, so be sure to say hello. (I'll be the big guy in the top hat. I'll be hard to miss.
)
See you there!
