Jonathan:
Mektronic worked great for a couple years - just had to "re-initialize" periodically so it wouldn't respond to other electronic interference. I liked the earlier Mavic electronic shifting, the non-wireless Zap - worked well until the little wires broke. Mavic then sent me the Mektronic, which as I said worked well for awhile. But then it seemed like everything from power lines to garage door remotes would make it go haywire. After two hilly century rides where it died 10 miles in, leaving me 90 miles of up and down with only chainring shifting, I scrapped it for Campy Record, which I have on my other road bike. Very little can go wrong with a cable it it's just used for pulling, not transmitting.
