Idea for self built carbon frame...thoughts?
Along with building a bamboo frame, I also want to tackle a carbon frame...I have been looking around the interwebs for some ideas and thought about this: Using steel parts for the headtube and bottom bracket like others have done......then using polystyrene rods for the basic construction of the frame....then of course carbon to layer over the polystyrene....
I was thinking of the best or most efficient ways to do this....and after some searching, this is what I thought......measuring out the lengths for the polystyrene rods, and then covering them with Carbon fiber braided sleeves from ACP composites and coating with a good epoxy...they are available in different diameters...I would then join the frame together with carbon tow and the same epoxy....anyone thing this would be a poor way of producing a carbon frame?
