No, if the air is getting out then there's a problem with the tube. The hole might be very small - have you tried inflating it until the tube gets really big and then holding it under water in a sink or tub to look for bubbles coming out? In rare cases you can also have a problem with dust getting into the valve and causing a small leak. If the piece of dust gets moved the valve will work properly again.

In any event, check inside the tire and the rim for any problems and if everything seems proper and smooth then put in a new tube and inflate.
