In my advanced age I have found myself really enjoying great serial novels. Among the finest is Patrick O'Brian's stories of the adventures of Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin. The movie
Master and Commander - Far Side of the World was inspired by these books. If you're going to be laid up for a while this could be a great escape.
