I was once chastised by Mrs. K for having all those bikes in the garage. I reminded her gently that I could be spending much more money on a car hobby, and besides I get badly needed exercise because the bikes motivate me to do it.
It worked, and later I bought her a Paramount.
But on the original topic, you should come to a consensus. I'd feel guilty straining the family budget to buy a bike.
