The way we determined it was by trial and error. Put them on my bike after his. We did the ultra-scientific "grab the frame and try to flex it" test. His flexed more than mine did. We also ended up trying a friend's Zipp 808 wheel on the back of his bike, which is about as stiff as wheels come. It still rubbed some.
