On my ride this afternoon I rolled up behind another roadie who appeared to be suffering from every known cycling sore spot, as evidenced by his frequent standing, stretching, rolling head side to side... I passed him at a red light and asked how his ride was going. He said, "As expected. Long day, but I'm on the return leg, so that's good. I'm pretty new to this." I replied with a hearty, "Excellent!" He tried to latch onto my wheel, but even 20mph* with a stiff tailwind was too much for him.
I remember those days.
* 20 was just turning the crank over with that tailwind. The rest of the way it was between 25 and 30.
