It would be different if these one sided calipers where "floating" calipers such as found on some motorcycles and most cars. But they are a fixed caliper body with one pad fixed so they have all the same disadvantages as mechanical disk brakes.
I think that you're getting your brakes mixed up.
The Hayes Sole sounds like the brake that you're thinking of, it's a single piston hydraulic brake with an inboard pad that needs adjusting with an allen key.
The Stroker has two pistons - one on each side.
