Fishing Rod transport - any ideas??

I bought a winter home in FL and there are many ponds/lakes around that have no parking so riding a bike would be ideal to hit these lakes. I was thinking about getting some type of commuter bike to be able to carry two rods and some heavier/longer fishing lures along when applicable rain gear, small cooler, etc. Is anyone using their bike for fishing and how are you transporting the rods? The rods I will be using are 6'6" to 7'2" and are one piece.

Also looking for bike recommendations also to use for this purpose. 95% of the riding will be on street/bike paths. Looking for more comfort than speed. Do not want a mountain bike. Any help regarding rod transportation and bikes to do it with would be greatly appreciated. I tried using the search function and nothing really new has been posted lately regarding this.
