They don't actually charge you for the build. It's just marketing.

I bought my Cross Check from Jenson two years ago, and it was simple to put together and ride. I found no problems with any of the fine-tuning, and the only adjustments needed were things having to do with my own size and comfort.

My only complaint was that they did not require a signature, so the carrier left the package at my front door. I sent an email to the company to complain about that, and they replied that they'd have covered it through their insurance. I don't know if they still do this, but I suggest asking them to require a signature anyway.
