Hi,
there is no such a thing as a 'do it all' bike. I suggest getting a high performance bike, and then a touring bike when you want to start touring. I think the place to start is to decide just how much performance you really want. There are high performace bikes like the Litespeed Tuscany. It's fast enough to race, but it's really
intended for a guy that wants to ride long, fast, and hard... without getting the crap beat out of him. Because it's all Ti, there's also no question of it lasting a long time. Most companies make a bike like that. You're just gonna have to hit the bike shops
and fine one. Or go custom. In your shoes, I'd go custom.
