Oooh ooh! Can you suggest brands/models, please?!

I currently use Shimano M038s which I gather are their entry-level MTB shoes. They're fairly comfy and I like them but have been thinking about trying a stiffer shoe to see if it makes any difference, but I do like the walkability and recessed cleat feature of most (all?) MTB shoes.
