Having 7 room mates in a 1050 square foot apartment, with 5 bikes means getting as much stuff up off the floor as possible.
I definitely understand that...my roommates and I ran into that issue with bikes lining the both sides of the hallway, so we all bought some hooks. Our place looks soooo much cleaner now.
