my experience has shown that cheap carbon is heavier than good aluminum and cheap aluminum is heavier than good steel.

for a while i had a 60cm steel road bike with full campagnolo 10spd that came in under 20lbs and that was without the use of extra light parts and clincher wheels. the components are now on an aluminum frame and the steel bike was built with period correct parts (it still comes in under 21)


back on topic, my conversion was about 17.5lbs (60cm) but has been parted out.
