They are technically compatible in that the cassettes will slide onto the same freehub body for all levels of 10s. For 10 speed systems I would not swap out the cassette to SRAM - you will get inferior shifting. Although it is not bad enough that you can't ride it.
I must disagree about the shifting quality. I have been using SRAM for years as well as Shimano. If anything the Sram is better than Shimano. Plus the Sram last longer.
