We have a few guys in our group that maintains some XC trails as well and I don't think they suck. The XC trails are awesome when you want to pedal up to hit the DH trails, rather than shuttle. And our guys design them so they are fun to rip down on either a small or big bike.

The thing is , you are trying to mix concepts up....i am not talking about your xc builders..i am reffering to those that yells "no ripping on trails"
