You're right about it being made in response to Moulton, but they were chronically heavy & slow, even without the folding hinge, I used to borrow my aunt's with fat white tyres, it was like riding a hippo! LOL!
The fold on the compact was hardly likely to assist in shoe-horning it into your average English car. But having said that, as time goes by their value is rising.
