The last Friendly Social Ride I did with a club was a Seattle Randos social group Permanent 100k. We broke into about 3 different paced packs: 20+, 17 - 19, and 15 - 16mph. Within those, we'd regroup at hilltops, and everyone met up at the control stops for coffee and pastries (a bakery and a coffee shop are the controls on that course.) Of any club around here, they're the one I know of that actually does "social" rides.
Ya know this guy Semper Fi was a big LD rider (doubles etc). Cool guy, If I was doing 20, he'd hold 20 when I let him in front. I don't know what it is but I can do 20 for 10 miles, move over then the other guy will hit 24 for 2 mintues then move to the back. It's like people don't understand what "having a chance to recover" means.
Last guy I tried to train with drafted for 50 miles then sprinted around in the last 1/2 mile.
..Impressive but when I asked him to go to the front at mile 5-49, he wouldn't.
Good partners ar hard to find!
