Grocery shopping with a BMW is fine. But I'd expect the driver to LOCK THE DOORS after parking it. I'd also expect a cyclist to be ultimately responsible for providing his own security for his bike, instead of relying on the goodwill of a storeowner.
If it's important to you, bring it up politely with the manager and ask if it's okay to bring an expensive bike in. But keep in mind that it's a privilege and not a right. I wouldn't try to use lost income as a lever though- the profit on a single sandwich isn't going to outweigh the potential irritation to employees and other customers.
