48mm is 1.8 inches, 60mm is 2.3 inches. US letter size is 8.5 x 11. Fold short end twice over. You now have a 2.125 inch ruler. Valve is bigger? You have 60mm stems. Valve is shorter than that? You have 48mm. Close enough for government work...
