I'm not familar with either of the two rims you mentioned. But I had a pair of Open Pro's and also have a pair of 44 deep aero wheels (Zipps). Everyone keeps saying Open Pro's are durable but lots of people have problems with the, especially with splits around the eyelets. Do a search here and you'll find some of the issues.

Deeper rims along with shorter spokes generally are stronger as you pointed out. They also give you an aero advantage but not as much as some people imagine. Think in terms of a little over a minute over 25 miles. Also 42 mm won't really affect you in cross winds.

You're pushing the weight limit of 20/24 spoke wheels but they should last if built properly.

You might want to consider Psimet. He's a contributer here and one of the ebst in the business, anywhere.
