That's an easy one to answer.

This thing has a female plug if I recall correctly. If you jam multimeter probes in there, you're likely to short it out. (But if you do it by using a proper male plug properly wired to your multimeter and measuring via that, then there will be no problems -- but that's a bit verbose for a warning label.)

I'll bet a lot of people ruined their old packs by jamming multmieter probes in there.
