Ok - so now we know that the recall process is indeed replacing some customer batteries. That's a good thing.
I think there is an issue where Geoman may have had people return working batteries that have been shorted "dead" by attempts to measure them. Hence they put a sticker out telling people to stop trying. As one reader mentioned, "protected battery" packs can appear damaged or dead after being short-circuited -even though they are not damaged.
I recently tested the new light head with an old "dealx" battery and was surprised to find that the protection circuit didn't work at all.
