I was on a short ride with a neighbor, when he asked if I’d mind stopping at a local drug store so he could get a birthday card. I said I was OK with it and asked whose birthday it was. He said it was his. After wishing him a happy birthday I asked, “Do you always send yourself a card?” His reply was pretty cool. He said, “No, I send it to my mother. After all, she’s the one who did all the work to get me here. I like to say thanks at least once a year.” And sure enough, he walked out of the store with a thank you card. It had been a misty, dreary ride, but this just brightened up the rest of the trip back home.
