Above is a photo of my bike, A KHS Gran Sport. A neighbor donated it to my son, and after a new rim, new tires and cables, we have a reliable rider.
The frame appears to exactly match two other mixte (?) frames in previous posts.
The SunTour gearing / shifters work quite well. I hear a quiet k-thunk when it shifts; never a grinding search.
The 52/42 front rings were fine when I began riding, but when I learned to increase cadence and thereby double my distance I began finding myself in the lower and mid-range gears more often.
The library tape on the saddle is a hoot. It saved the exposed foam from flaking off. Good enough for starters!
I'd like to upgrade to a Trek 2.1 or a Cannondale CAAD9, but I'll have to see / ride them in person to make a decision. They're both excellent.
I feel better than I have in years. I skip lunch at work. I ride every 2-3 days and push myself hard. And I lost 5 pounds. Nothing's stopping me now, good Lord willing!
