Summer cycling for a new biker (a...bikeling?)

I'm very new to biking, and I really enjoy it. However, here in Central New York, the weather is creepin' into high degrees and humidity, leaving me a little concerned for my summer cycling.

The past few summers, I've spent sitting in air-conditioned rooms, eating, and well, packin' on the pounds. So, I haven't been very active in hot weather for a while. I want to really see a change in that.

So are there any suggestions for summer biking? I know keeping hydrated is a must, of course. Any other suggestions? Any good ways to get used to the heat, or is it something that comes with just doing?

Some tips or help would be delightful!
