Not knocking them for those who enjoy these mini tours, but personally I don't have any desire to carry a bunch of gear to ride within a days ride of home. So far my shortest tour is 11 days and I don't have any real desire to go shorter.
I am lucky to be able to string 3 days off together at a single time. Seldom get full weekends off either.

My S24O's seem to run in the 40 mile range.
