Sometimes Bike Snob really nails it

Anybody here read Bike Snob?

I'm not what anyone would call a follower of his blog-- busy, busy, busy these days-- but when I do, I'm always struck by his ability to skewer what he observes with startling clarity and insight. Now, I think his recent blog post about his trip to Sweden was just fantastic. Of course, I think he's howlingly funny anyway... ("The other thing I learned about Sweden was that, at this time of year, the sun actually rises before it's finished setting. This means that not only is it light all the time, but the day is also 29 hours long. It also meant that, if I craved darkness, I had no alternative but to look into the recesses of my soul."

Which does do a lot to explain Kierkegaard, I suppose. But forgive me; I digress.)

But the point of my is that he pinned me-- and some of us, maybe-- to the table like a butterfly under the lens. Click on the link to his Svenskblogg above, and scroll down to the 9th picture down. Where you'll see he has just described a banana as a "Retrogrouch Energy Bar."

Never before have I had something that's such a big part of my life so exquisitely dismissed with such faint praise. Much less had it make me laugh my head off in a public place.

Bravo, Mr. Snob. Well played, sir.
