The only GC contenders that have been left untouched by crashes at this point seem to be the Schlecks and Cadel Evans. I saw Leopard-Trek come to the front and drill it after the crash to make sure none of the GC threats could catch back up to the main field, which tells me that they are going to play rough and do whatever it takes to try to win.
I can't really blame them after what happened last year (though I'm sure others will). The opening week has been nuts! Stages that should have been uneventful, weren't. I have a theory as to why, but I'm not going to bring it up here.
