I don't think any other sprinters have the right to complain about Cavendish. They are all quite happy to sit back and let HTC spend all day at the front of the peleton pulling in the breakaway without doing anything to help. This is the only TDF I can remember where only 1 sprinters team has chased breaks down. Nobody seems willing to do anything to help them, yet everyone is happy to complain about them. I think Cavs comment about them not riding because they not have confidence in there sprinters is spot on.
Garmin did a ton of the work in the first week, so you can't say HTC is the only one chasing down breaks. I think that nobody else is willing to work for their sprinters, because they actually have GC contenders to work for instead. HTC in my opinion poses 0 threat for the podium. And I don't think his comment was spot on, I think he's just being a tool as always. Cause that is all he is. 100% tool.
