Yes and yes. Because of some slight residual difficulty eating, I have had to pay more attention to nutritional supplements on long rides. As a result I am running on better fuel and seem to actually have better endurance than before. I also think I learned some things about conserving effort during my recovery period which helps me keep going longer without tiring.

Being 30 lbs lighter has definitely made climbing easier and faster than before, although I would never claim to be a fast climber. I am able to keep my cadence up in a higher gear now in most situations and I rarely get into a slow, grinding, struggling to keep moving situation.
