Ask your host for directions to Fair Park, where there is crit racing every Thursday night. Not far from deep ellum at all.
Also, if you want a weekend ride, check out the various rides leaving from the Richardson Bike Mart location there on Garland Rd, ranging from all-out hammerfest to somewhat sane club ride.
