575 miles, end to end from the northern start of the Skyline Drive to the the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Lot's of places to camp in Shenandoah Nat'l Park, somewhat fewer along the Blue Ridge. generally decent water supplies, except in August if they haven't had a lot of rain.

Very, Very hilly. Bring your hill gears and get lot's of hill riding in before you set out.

Very scenic as well as fairly busy with cars and motor homes, especially in the summer months. The road is paved and a two-laner with no shoulder, but the speed limit is low so you generally don't have issues with being run down by cars. Lot's of bike traffic as well, so that keep the motorists alert.

Oh, did I say it's hilly ?.
