Back in the day - the quality on everything was better because things did cost more, but in relative terms, people MADE more.
Even when I started working, the term "working poor" would have been an oxymoron: There were plenty of good paying factory jobs, so chances are, if you worked 40 hours a week, you
weren't poor.
