I know of only one messenger company still in business, which UrbanCycle. While riding around in Paris, particularly around Place de la Republique, we saw them zip by. All on hybrids/mountain bikes with road tires.
Didn't get a chance to check out the bois de vincennes, but I was told about it by a couple of people.
I'm moving there in Sept. and I'm really excited about all of the new bike lanes.
