I went out for an hour's ride today with the bike that has the "tick" hoping to wear down the parts that were causing the noise and after an hour it was still there. Fortunately, in my case it's on the 52t and not the 42t where I live most of the time. Also, it seems to be more of a nuisance than anything as I didn't detect any chain irregularites or malfunctions.
