Not bike related but... we had some mouse or small rodent climb into the dryer duct outlet. It got stuck in either the long duct or back of the dryer. I eventually blew it out but for weeks every time we ran the dryer there was this disturbing dead odor blowing out. As it was spring summer, we suffered from the smell.
Had a similar problem in a duplex we rented. It was built on a slab, so the ductwork was run through the ceilings and dropped down to the baseboards. We kept smelling that nasty "something's dead" odor but could find where it was coming from until I removed the grate from one of the baseboards and found a dead mouse putrefying in there. It must have entered the duct in the ceiling, fell down the drop to the grate and was unable to escape from there.
